How Building our House is like a Pregnancy:
We have a nine-month construction loan.
By our calculations, our "due date" is about May 27th give or take a couple of weeks depending on whether you start counting from the date we closed on our loan or the date we broke ground. (wink, wink) We'll get a better idea when we get to 20 weeks.
We hope it's done pretty close to our due date -- Too soon, and it might need extra help; too late, and we'll start getting really ornery.
I feel like throwing up, much of the time. Mike has sympathy nausea.
I'm finding it hard to sleep through the night.
I'm moody. I want to throw fits. (Watch out if you work for the power company.)
I have no energy left to clean my house.
We eat pizza or other take-out 3 times a week.
( . . . and hence) I'm gaining weight.
We're starting to realize just how much this baby is going to cost.
Looking forward to the 2nd trimester, when hopefully things will get a little easier, for a while.
But . . .
This is something we want for our family.
It's very exciting to chart each little milestone, watching it grow.
And we know it will all be worth it once the big day comes.

But what does this have to do with flying an airplane?
You are so wise. You should give a General Conference talk on building a house.
Sorry if my post left out your dedicated readership of my cooking blog (though I haven't posted anything there for months). Your patronage is appreciated. You are (WV) supre.
oh, wow. i guess congratulations are in order then huh? that would be awesome if when the big day comes you lose 20-30 lbs in one day. (i guess you've got to gain it first) i can't wait to see your not-so-little bundle of joy.
I hope delivery isn't too painful. That's one big baby! Hah!
Funny!
I feel the same relief at not building a house as I do at not being pregnant. But it's still fun to watch other people gestating.
Best post ever.
Awesome post- and here I was thinking this was going to be an announcement for #4! Can't wait to see more house pics...
Great Analagy!!
har har har!!! so funny!! well, we always do seem to plan our babies close to each other. are you going to find out what kind of house you're having or be surprised? so glad you're posting about it so i don't miss it all.
I love this post...and I love the comments. I think you should totally find out what kind of house you are having! :)
Congrats! I have always wanted to build a house. For now, I just get to help friends. Wish I was closer and I would definitely come help you!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your comments yesterday, too. I appreciate them.
Love the post. I don't think I could do it, but I can't wait to see how the finished product turns out!
We hope that we don't mess this new baby up, and we hope the older children don't physically destroy it.
This post was hilarious. You know, we bought a house that was already constructed, brand new. Even that was stressful enough that I was curled into fetal position in the closet a few times. I shudder at the very thought of building a house. I remember very vividly thinking to myself "of everything that has happened in our life during the last few years, THIS is what totally pushes me off the edge????????"? My sympathies, my dear. Here's hoping that they meet you at the door with an epidural and that she has all of her fingers, toes, and that her vital organs are in perfect working order. This building process sounds like an eerily familiar constant battle. One thing I learned in the NICU is that if you don't advocate for your baby, no one else will.
