Swears and Prayers

The worst thing Ellie can think to say to me when she's really mad is "Nebber, Nebber, Nebber Mommy!" I guess "never" is the word I use with the most emotion when I'm mad. (As in: "NEVER put a pillow on your sister's head and sit on it!")

I've been working with Chloe to cut down on her potty talk. "No potty talk," is a phrase often heard at our house these days. So now when Ellie wants to show her displeasure she pipes up: "Potty talk! Potty talk!"

Chloe gets upset when Ellie says things that are silly or untrue or just not what Chloe's in the mood for. This is particularly the case when we're driving and there is little else to entertain them in their car seats.

Chloe: Mooommmm! Ellie said Winnie the Pooh is a stuff-a-fluff!! (Whatever. But then Winnie the Pooh just gets us on the potty talk track.) "Pooh!"
Mom: Chloe.
Chloe: No, I'm not saying poo, I'm saying Winnie the Pooh. And now I'm saying pee.
Mom: Chloe.
Chloe: No, I'm just saying the letter P. P, P, P.
Mom: Chloe, I know what you're saying. No potty talk.
Ellie: Potty talk, Potty talk!
Chloe: Noooo! Mom, Ellie's saying potty talk!
Ellie: Potty talk!
Chloe: Nooooo!
Ellie: Nebber, Nebber, Nebber! Potty talk!
Chloe: Noooo! Mom! She's still saying potty talk!
Mom: She's just repeating what you say. Think of something better for her to say.
Chloe: (pause) Ellie? Can you say "muffin top?"

Mom: (reading "Olivia" to Ellie) ". . . I love you anyway, too."
Ellie: (repeating everything I say) I love you anyway, too.
Mom: The End.
Ellie: The End. (sigh) . . . Amen.

I'm amazed at the verbal world of little girls. This never happens at our house. Instead I just hear "Rrrrrr!" (someone about to lose their cool for an undiscussed reason) Pow! Scream! At this point, sadly, I'm used to the violence. I don't know if I could take the arguing. I have to hand it to you!

Hah,hah! I'm glad you posted that. We forget half the funny things our kids say unless we write them down.

Such adorable children. Isn't it great they come with their own personalities (much to our shagrin!).

Hilarious! Oh my goodness, so funny! I was dying! Does Chloe know what "muffin top" means? (in slang form)

Joey here, too lazy to log in. Sounds like your girls have come up with a very clever routine in the Abbott and Costello tradition.
