Candy for Breakfast

"Candy... For breakfast? (and dinner) It's Reese's!"

Today I ate . . .
Breakfast: 1/2 bowl of instant oatmeal (Chloe stole the other half) and 1 bowl of Reese's Puffs
Lunch: a microwaveable lunch of spaghetti (bleagh) and a bowl of plain nonfat yoghurt with wheat germ & splenda
Afternoon snack: Wheat toast w/ tuna salad, mini bag of popcorn
Dinner: 2 bowls of Reese's Puffs, 2 knox blox (jello squares)

Let's see - any vegetables in there? Well, there is pickle relish in the tuna salad, and the spaghetti sauce has some tomato ancestry. (or is tomato a fruit?)
And as for fruit . . . Does orange-flavored jello count?

A little heavy on the Reese's Puffs, you say? I blame Mike. (How could I blame me?) He got sucked in by one of those "Buy 10 for $20 and get an instant $5 refund!" promotions and brought home a bunch of blood-sugar-spiking cereals. (Honestly, my usual is Wheat Bran Flakes with dried currants for sweetness.) Plus, he's gone tonight, generously showing a face for his firm at a dinner somewhere. He can't bill it, but at least he'll have a real meal. So, I lose my motivation to cook (or is it to do dishes?) when he's gone. (I miss you, honey!)

I know, you're probably asking why I put splenda on my yoghurt, then followed it up with more Reese's Puffs. I have no good answer - don't I get points for my little efforts? Or does the sabotaging cancel all that out? (The jello was sugar-free, too.) So if I end on a low-calorie note - does that a low-calorie diet make? In the world of sinning and repenting, what you do last is important. At any rate, something about the statement "Reese's Puffs" worries me.

I did exercise a bit - 30 minutes, plus some ballet dancing, leaping, twirling, to entertain the girls (they didn't seem impressed) - maybe that makes up for one bowl.

I hope to write a new entry (sometime) with a healthier, more motivated menu. I think I'll go eat a couple of carrot sticks.

Vicky, I also have no motivation to cook when Clint flies late. I throw kid food at the boys and eat leftovers. Then Clint comes home at 9pm so hungry and I have nothing to offer him but frozen burritos. Poor guy.
Great efforts on the diet. It's an amazing effort just to journal your food! If I could just restrict myself to 3 meals and 2 snacks I'd lose half my calories for all my constant foraging.

If my DH were going to be gone for dinner, I would definitely not spend the time cooking a large meal. It would be something super simple. And...I'm not big on sugar cereals, but...I love Reese's Puffs, too! Good thing DH never goes shopping or I might have boxes of it to tempt me also!

I always get sucked in by those cereal promotions, so I have nobody to blame but myself. You're not alone, when I take the time to tally up my daily intake, I am always disgusted with the lack of quality and hugeness of quantity!

How uncanny. I'm eating Reese's Puffs RIGHT now. I bought them for a dessert because I feel like we never have anything chocolatey delicious when I'm wanting it. But it's 10:00 am and I'm eating them for breakfast. woopsie. Maybe I'll have a banana.

So true! My personal meals seem to consist of a) nothing or b) granola bars and Gatorade while driving. Bleh! Jason has to generously go golfing with "the firm" Friday. Poor guy.

Did you know you can have one supremely delicious, melt-in-your-mouth square of Lindt chocolate for only 25 calories? And it is so good one will suffice. Your Swiss Mother
